New York-based Australian photographer Sam Clare shares her West Village edit, from the places she eats and drinks to favourite local stores, including bond-eye’s Bleecker Street home.
stop 1:
casa magazines
My absolute favourite magazine store in the West Village. They stock every type of magazine you could think of, and always have every single Vogue. I could spend hours in here browsing — honestly, I'd buy the whole store if I could. It's endless inspiration in one tiny shop.
stop 2:
fellini coffee
The best coffee in the West Village, in my opinion. They have a few spots around the city, but this one's a favourite. I ordered an iced almond latte with banana purée — so good. If you're after something sweeter, they also do delicious cream-based coffees that feel like a proper treat.
stop 3:
the bond-eye store
I'm heading to Greece this week, so of course I had to stop in and pick up some pieces from bond-eye first. I picked a mix of dresses, a bikini, a one-piece, a couple of oversized shirts, and some easy, wearable skirts — so excited to wear them all. Their resort wear is so versatile: perfect for the beach, by the pool, or dressed up for dinner and drinks. I love layering in accessories with these pieces too.

I'm obsessed with this bookstore — curated by Marc Jacobs himself, so it has a real fashion focus throughout. I love browsing here and I'm always tempted to treat myself to a new coffee table book. There's a great mix on the shelves too, something for everyone.
stop 5:
spotting west village puppies
An unofficial stop, but an essential one — the West Village is full of dogs out on their afternoon walks. I don't think I've ever seen so many good-looking dogs in one neighbourhood.
stop 6:
PDPAOLA
My favourite jewellery shop. It's a Spanish brand with beautiful, stylish designs that go with everything — simple, modern, and beautiful. I always find it impossible to pick just one piece because I love it all.
stop 7:
le dive
I love coming here with friends, especially in the summer. Best spritzes and martinis in the neighbourhood, with a proper European feel that makes you forget you're in New York. Great food and nibbles too.
stop 8:
Carrie Bradshaw's stoop
You can't walk through the West Village without stopping outside Carrie's iconic building from Sex and the City. There's really nothing else to say — it's iconic.
stop 9:
sant ambroeus
My go-to for a drink, dessert, or dinner — perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. We had drinks outside with the group before heading in for dinner. And don't leave without ordering their famous Princess Cake — I'm still thinking about it.
